About the Helsinki Card
There are three main types of Helsinki Card, valid for 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours respectively. You can also choose to update these cards with a 'Region' plugin; this gives you the added benefit of unlimited travel in Espoo (Finland's second largest city) plus travel to and from Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Regardless of which card you choose, the idea is the same: Write the current time and date on the card when you first use it, and then you can ride and access attractions until the timer runs out. You can only visit each museum or attraction once with each card, but to be honest, it's highly unlikely that you'll want to visit the same place multiple times on the same trip.
Buy the Helsinki card
To get started, you need to buy the card online. You can then choose to have the card delivered to your home (please allow 10-14 business days) or collect it when you arrive in Helsinki. There are several pick-up points in the city, but the easiest for most visitors is Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Alternatively, you can be picked up in central Helsinki: there are pick-up points at the Holiday Inn Helsinki City Center Hotel, near the main train station, at the Stockmann department store, Aleksanterinkatu 52, and at the starting point of the Panorama tour Sightseeing at Esplanade Park. also can buy the card in Helsinki at selected hotels, hostels and ferry terminals. Because the Helsinki Card is valid for a full 12 months from the point of purchase, it makes sense to buy it as far in advance as possible, especially if there is an online sale. This will ensure it is delivered on time, if you ship it to your home, and will also help you avoid price gouging.
Helsinki Mobile card
Helsinki Mobile Card, which can be purchased online and downloaded directly to your phone. Then simply scan the QR code at the entrance of each attraction you visit. The card is valid from the first time you scan the code. The mobile card is useful if you are already in Helsinki, as it can be used within three hours of ordering. It is a little cheaper than the normal Helsinki Card, but it is NOT valid for use on any public transport, only for entry to places of interest and attractions.
